Folding Chairs Are From An Ancient Idea

Folding chairs are a time tested idea and they still are evolving right before our eyes. You can visit any type of office, and school, and most homes in America, and find these chairs being used. They are convenient, they save space, and give good support. You can find them on patios, in gardens, at funerals, or at graduations. They have been around for centuries, and have been improved on and modernized for our convenience.

Should you go out shopping for the right chair for whatever use you may have for one, then you will quickly see that the amount of choices available can be a bit overwhelming. So many different materials are used to make them, and they have so many designs, that it really makes for a tough choice. Some feature cushions, some are plain, some have padding, some just cloth, and some are metal, wood, plastic, or any number of other materials.

Many of these chairs are beautifully adorned with nice fabrics and colors. You can get them with a round back, or you can get them squared. You can buy wooden ones, or metal, or plastic. Some of the woods are Mahogany, Natural Wood, Black Wood, Oak, Pine, and many others. There is literally no end to the different materials that these chairs are made from.

For places like a school or an office that has frequent use of these chairs, and wants to store them somewhere on the facility, there are racks made for storing and easy transport. Some are made to stack the chairs on, and others are more of a hanging type storage. But they come on rollers and can easily be moved in and out of whatever place they need to be stored in. They are known as chair caddies.

When it comes to finding a form of temporary seating, these chairs that fold out are the champs. They have excellent support, are very lightweight, and can match most any decor for the event you use them for. The different designs afford you the luxury of choosing the type best suited to fit your needs as well as fit in with your sense of style and taste.

These chairs have been around for a long time, and can be dated back to ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt. The first aluminum folding chair was created by a man named Fredric Arnold back in 1947. His chair came with a fabric strapping for both its seat and its back. By the time 1957 rolled around, he had formed the Fredric Arnold Company in Brooklyn, New York. At that time they pumped out around 14,000 per day.

Nearly everyone has seen the behind the scenes look a movie making, and seen the foldout directors chair. This is yet another application of the concept that has found a good use in American culture. Some of the craftsmanship that is done, especially on some of the outdoor garden types, is simply beautiful and elegant, and a real addition to the decor.

While folding chairs are simple and efficient, they are also extremely practical for many situations. I would say that their overall service and convenience are what make them so popular and unique. Many times I have gone fishing and hunting, and pulled out my folding chair and settled in. They are a real credit to ingenuity and simplicity in an invention of need.

Folding chairs are inspired efficiency for both comfort and seating space. They are good for the workplace, as well as around the house. We’ve got the best skinny on the latest folding chair style.

Folding Chairs Are Not Just For The Office

Folding chairs are inspired efficiency for both comfort and seating space. They’re good for the office, as well as around the house. On the patio, in the yard, and even as part of your hunting and fishing gear. No school goes without them, nor would you go to a speaking engagement of any kind and not expect to see them. They have proven themselves to be the most easily accessed and one of the most frequently used type of chair on the market.

If you happen to be part of a school, or maybe an office, that will be using these chairs quite frequently, then you should look into getting a chair caddie. These are racks for storing and transporting the chairs. These two are convenient. They come on rollers, with some being for stacking, while others are for hanging. But they too come in convenient fold up models to help with space and storing.

For temporary seating these chairs are give great service. Funerals and graduations are two good examples. Another fine feature these chairs have is that they are lightweight. On average they may weigh, depending on what they are made of, and what type they are, anywhere from five up to ten pounds.

I believe we can all sit and imagine the old directing chair used by directors behind the scenes of movie sets. We all know that scene, where he belts out instructions from his little fold out chair through a big megaphone. Those chairs were of a very simple design, but in the stores today you find a much more sophisticated choice of chairs. They are made with elegance and beauty for brightening up patios and gardens and public affairs.

Folding chairs are a time tested idea, but they also have come a long way as far as material and design. For good solid support and service, and for convenience, they have no rivals. If you like to fish and hunt, then no doubt you have seen the convenience they provide in those areas. They truly are an American tradition, and a credit to a how a simple idea, born of convenience, can enhance our culture.

Folding chairs are inspired efficiency for both comfort and seating space. They’re good for the workplace, as well as around the house. We’ve got the best skinny on the latest folding chair style.

help! chair rental dilemma for wedding reception?

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Question by RIL: help! chair rental dilemma for wedding reception?
I have the hall for my wedding reception booked. it was a great price for the location, unfortunetly the chairs provided by the lodge are an eye sore! this is the place:http://www.laparks.org/dos/reservations/grace_photoalbum.htm
I’m having a summer wedding, my dress is ivory and the bridesmaids will be wearing yellow. A friend suggested renting chair covers w/sashes but the prices are ridiculous! We’re expecting 150 guests and the most affordable rate so far is .75 per chair…crazy right?!! Another friend suggested renting wood folding padded chairs. It is more cost effective however, now it comes down to choosing a color. The tables will be covered with floor lenght ivory silk linens. These chairs are available in white and natural wood, i’m not sure what would look best! Would it look tacky to use these for an indoor reception?

http://culvercity.classicpartyrentals.com/products/chairs/139

Any ideas on how to give these chairs an elegant touch yet affordable?

Best answer:

Answer by Mrs B to be
I wouldnt use the wooden chairs indoors. They arent the most comfortable of things to start with…plus they’re folding (how many of those wedding candid camera clips involve folding chairs?!) I dont think they will achieve the look.

Try Speaking to the chair cover people and hagling for a large booking discount… you’re ordering 150 of them…surely they could knock a lil off

Pius IX’s Faldstool

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

A few nice Wood Folding Chairs images I found:

Pius IX’s Faldstool
Wood Folding Chairs
The Faldstool is a movable (folding) chair used in pontifical functions by the bishop outside of his cathedral, or within it if he is not at his throne or cathedra.

It may have once been something like a campstool used by military men and it accompanied the bishop in his journeys. Materials, even the most costly, were employed in its construction; one wrought of gold and jewelled was presented to Pope Clement IV by Charles, King of Naples. Some were made of silver, of gilt metal, of ebony, or of wood. They were sometimes elaborately carved, ending in clawlike feet, the four corners at the top representing the neck and head of animals. Cloths of silk of a rich texture with gold and silver served to cover them.

This beautiful gilt and enamelled faldstool belonged to Pope Pius IX (1846 – 78) as the coat of arms indicates. It is now on display in the Lateran Palace museum.

Folding Chairs Are An Invention Of Necessity

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Wood Folding Chairs
by Rodney the Sanches

Folding Chairs Are An Invention Of Necessity

Folding chairs are simple and efficient in both design and space saving. Hardly any office, home, or school is without the use of one of these remarkably durable seating ideas. From the patio, to the garden, and from a funeral to a graduation, these chairs are easily brought out from storage and put in place to accommodate seating arrangements for most any function or gathering.

If you ever had to shop around for any of these chairs, then you were sure to run into an overwhelming variety of choice. They come made in different metals, different woods, plastic, and various types of designs. Some have cushions, some do not, some have padding, some have cloth. The list goes on and on of the different features available. And they can be bought wholesale as well.

The color choice is another thing. Of course this should be easy as long as you know what you are going to use the chairs for. But they come in most any color, and with your choice of a round back, or with a square back. The many different types of wood used to make some of these is remarkable. You can get pine, oak, mahogany, natural wood, black wood, and loads of other woods. This list just keeps on rolling.

This type of chair is not a new concept. They date back as far as the ancient Romans, the Greeks, and the Egyptians. The very first one made of aluminum with a fabric strapping for its back and seat, was designed by Fredric Arnold in 1947, who later started a company and ten years later was cranking out 14,000 chairs a day.

Most all of us can picture those scenes behind the making of movies, and the director sitting in his chair. These chairs have made their way into our culture, and seem to be here to stay. Unlike the directors model, some are quite sophisticated in their designs. The ancient wooden ones had intricate carvings in them with significant characters and meaning. These chairs are a testament to beauty and elegance, and can always be found to enhance any decor.

Folding chairs are a time tested idea, but they also have come a long way as far as material and design. For good solid support and service, and for convenience, they have no rivals. If you like to fish and hunt, then no doubt you have seen the convenience they provide in those areas. Folding chairs are inspired efficiency for both comfort and seating space. They’re good for the workplace, as well as around the house. We’ve got the ultimate scoop on the latest folding chair style.

Folding Chairs Are A Luxury We Take For Granted

Folding chairs are inspired efficiency for both comfort and seating space. They’re good for the office, as well as around the house. On the patio, in the yard, and even as part of your hunting and fishing gear. No school goes without them, nor would you go to a speaking engagement of any kind and not expect to see them. They have proven themselves to be the most easily accessed and one of the most frequently used type of chair on the market.

The color choice is another thing. Of course this should be easy as long as you know what you are going to use the chairs for. You can get pine, oak, mahogany, natural wood, black wood, and loads of other woods. This list just keeps on rolling.

They are good for the workplace, as well as around the home. We’ve got the best skinny on the latest folding chair style.

    Folding Chairs Are Most Efficient

    Monday, June 7th, 2010
    Wood Folding Chairs
by Rev. Xanatos Satanicos Bombasticos (ClintJCL)

    Folding Chairs Are Most Efficient

There is no kind of chair that can compare when it comes to temporary seating. They give excellent service for all sorts of events, speaking engagements, and outdoor activities. They are very lightweight, mostly around five or ten pounds, and are sturdy in their construction for good support. The difference in your choice of design and style is only limited to the way you plan to use them, and personal preference.

Fredric Arnold is the man who is responsible for making the first aluminum one. It used fabric for its backing and seat, and in this was back in the year 1947. This was not the first folding chair, just the first aluminum one. By 1957, he had his own company and was putting out over 14,000 a day. In reality, though, these chairs date all the way back to the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans.

They’re good for the office, as well as around the house. We’ve got the ultimate skinny on the latest folding chair style.

They have been around for centuries, and have been improved on and modernized for our convenience.

Yes, folding chairs are inspired efficiency and a convenience we have enjoyed for many years. They have been giving us good service, and artistic accents, that we really should appreciate. They are a long lasting credit to how a simple idea can really change the way we do things, and can last for many many years.

Folding chairs are inspired efficiency for both comfort and seating space. They’re great for the workplace, as well as around the home. We’ve got the ultimate skinny on the latest folding chair style.

    Hobo Origami, Cardboard Folding Chair

    Sunday, May 30th, 2010

I created this chair with a partner for a manufacturing class. This video is actually of two different chairs, the alphatype and then the betatype. I designed the chair by folding letter sized paper. The paper proved to be much easier to fold than the cardboard. When we transferred the design from paper to cardboard my partner came through with a workable modification. This chair was created with no glue, no tape, no fasteners, and contains only one cut. The chair folds and unfolds completely flat. The chair is made of one piece of cardboard. I weight 190 lb or 86 Kg and I am 6′4″ or 193 cm tall. The chair supported my weight with my feet off the ground. The video was created by one of my class mates. Thanks!

Find Out the Different Uses of Folding Chairs

    Sunday, May 16th, 2010
    Wood Folding Chairs
    by Rodney the Sanches

Find Out the Different Uses of Folding Chairs

Folding chairs, as the name implies, are lightweight chairs that fold to lie reasonably flat to permit for easier storage and transport. Folding chairs are usually economical to buy or rent. Folding chairs can be simple to operate and can be set up and taken down swiftly, even by people who are physically handicapped or who don’t have much stamina. Folding chairs might be metal, plastic, aluminum, or wood. Some of them even have padded seats for extra comfort. Folding chairs has many uses.

Plenty of people keep a couple of folding chairs around their home to provide extra seats for company. The chairs can be set up when the need arises and stored conveniently in a closet while not it use. Facilities that cater to patients like hospitals and nursing homes are also starting to provide folding chairs in the patients’ rooms in case visitors stop by. Usually, most of the patients’ rooms offered only a single visitor chair. If more than one visitor came to see the patient, the other visitor would have to lug extra chair from the other rooms or from common area. Having some folding chairs stacked up against a wall or in the closet makes visits simpler and more enjoyable for larger families.

Some agencies or companies like support groups or training seminars often provide folding chairs for participants to sit in. As the chair don’t weigh much, it is very convenient to reposition them. Some seminar leaders, for example, begin with participants sitting in a circle and then have them move their chairs into tiny groups. Schools also use folding chairs as a place for students to sit during lessons, meals, assemblies, etc.

You will find many corporations which also use folding chairs. Folding chairs can transform an empty room into a corporate classroom in a few minutes’ time. They cal also offer convenient seating for multiple people at staff meetings. Folding chairs are also ideal for big events like wedding, receptions, parties, and dances. Although folding chairs don’t cost much to buy and if you require them only for one day then you can rent them. They can provide a fast, comfortable seat for potential clients or employees as well.

Nufurn, a leading name associated with folding chairs, offers a wide range of folding chairs as per your budgetary requirements. If you want to buy folding chairs, Nufurn will be right choice for your folding chairs.
