What’s a fair price to pay someone to help us move? Can’t afford a moving company =(?

Sunday, March 27th, 2011
Wood Folding Chairs
by Rodney the Sanches

Question by lindyboo: What’s a fair price to pay someone to help us move? Can’t afford a moving company =(?
We had a friend in mind to help but he is not available on moving day. So we went on Craig’sList and found a guy offering services of, “we will move you, cut your grass, lay tile, etc.” So what’s a fair amount to pay?

The move is only a few blocks (3.22 miles to be exact, thx mapquest =) We’re just moving to get an apt with 2 bathrooms.. yay!! =D Our heaviest items are a big wood desk, loveseat & recliner, 2 dresser-chests, a 20-inch TV, one full bed, one twin bed-both without head- or footboard, and a home gym (that’s not heavy just kinda awkward & clanky).

We don’t have kitchen / dining table & chairs- only a card table & fold-up chairs.. so sad LOL. So the rest of it will be computer stuff, clothes, groceries.. in other words a lot of crap in boxes & plastic tote-boxes & drawers.

Of course we’ll cover gas.. depending on how big his truck is it might take several trips…. so we’ll do gas and buy him a good lunch… How much cash though? Should we do it by the hour? Like would $ 17-$ 20/hour be fair? And what if he has someone helping him? Do we do that amount x however many helpers he brings? Ouch.. If we keep on taking on money, we could just do the moving company way?
Krisco, funny – it’s also me & my fiance! That’s what I’m saying-we had a friend who was gonna do it but won’t be in town on moving day. He’s the only friend we can think of – we’re new to the area and busy students and haven’t made many new friends.

So the guy we’re considering is NOT a friend.. he’s just a guy trying to make $ on Craig’sList. I don’t think he’d do several hours work for pizza & beer. He might be unemployed, trying to feed his family or sumpin. I wish, boy how I wish =D he would do it for pizza & beer..

Best answer:

Answer by Krisco
Honestly I always buy everyone dinner (pizza) and beer and that always does it. Gas money maybe. Think about it.. what would you expect from someone?
The last time I moved it was my fiance and I and two of our friends and a U-Haul. It took us about 4 hours total and we bought everyone pizza and once we got everything in the house, we played drinking games and that was it.
All I can say is they know who to call if they need help. :)

What do you think? Answer below!

Help to redecorate?

Wood Folding Chairs
by maureen_sill

Question by Sporty_Spirit_8: Help to redecorate?
What are some cool easy ways to make my room look more cozy and modern.

I have light blue walls and red covers and a red fold out chair. I have a wooden desk and a dresser that’s paintable! I want to make cubbies in white wood to fit fabric cube drawers in and that I want to go under my 2 windown and on top of 2 of my walls along the ceiling. I have a queen size bed. Hop that helps. ( My rooms prtty big.)

I don’t want to spend a ton of money!

I’m very athletic, popular and BEAUTIFUL! LOL. Pleas help. Thanks!
Check out my othr question about babysitting!

Best answer:

Answer by xlneena2
Paint the desk and dresser the same color white as the cubbies. I would try to do a blue and white gingham a little darker than the walls for contrast and red piping to match the covers. Gingham is not necessarily a country thing…but if gingham is not your thing…then use a stripe in the contrasting colors. Goo Luck!!

Can someone analyze my recurring dream!?

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Question by A: Can someone analyze my recurring dream!?
The dream starts off with myself and two of my friends (whom I don’t recognize) walking through Walmart. We’re walking in the back, by the bakery (which is normally in the front of my store, so the layout in this dream is a little off, even though it takes place in the same town, I know this because of later details in the dream). We’re all craving cake. We go and start getting random ones and the people behind the counter are talking about a weird odor they keep smelling. Some man walks up and asks for the polar bear box, he wants 7 of them. The lady brings it to him and it is a giant box of halloween candy that is full of lindor truffles. In the meantime, someone comes to “investigate” the odor and goes to the back of the bakery, behind the doors. We linger there, waiting. He comes back up and tells us he was looking for zombies and that we need to leave our cake and run. So a mad panic breaks out and we run to our cars, while I’m sitting there, I reach over to lock my car door and someone I don’t recognize gets in the car with me. I ask him who the hell he is, that i don’t have time to deal with him, and to get out of my car because I have to go pick up some friends of mine. He says ‘but (and the friend’s name he inserted here is an actual friend of mine) Gary told me if a zombie Apocalypse ever broke out, to find you and you’ll help me”. We start to drive off, and the details were so vivid driving out of town that it was like I was actually there. In my dream, I called my real-life best friend and told her I was headed to the large casino that is 30 miles from where we were. She told me to bypass it and go to a VA in Houston (? That part I’m not sure about, it sounded kind of like Houston, but I may be mistaken) and stay there because they have a huge armory under the building. I woke up then, baffled by what was going on. When I went back to sleep, it was like I had never woke up, but had time traveled back to the middle of the first dream. We were back in Walmart, but it was just one of my friends and her baby (still not recognizing anyone). We are running through grabbing clothes for my kids (I honestly don’t know where they were in my dream. I never saw them. I had the sense that they were safe though), and stuffing the clothes into backpacks. Anything we thought we would need for a 2 month period, we grabbed, stuffing into backpacks, a playpen (which just appeared inside the basket we were pushing, which was kind of weird because it was a normal size playpen and a normal size basket, yet it fit? We were tossing packs of diapers for my daughter under the blanket in the playpen because we planned on just pushing the entire basket of stuff out of the store and into our “safe place”. When we get ready to leave, I remembered that we hadn’t grabbed anything for them to drink, so we walk back to the bottled water and start loading it. Then, one of the men from the first part of the dream who told us to run said that they had been doing some checking and the zombies here weren’t bitten. They had been born zombies. And they needed to find the source. Someone asked if it was something in the water and another mad panic broke out. The official turned off the water line and someone announced over the PA that they found the source to the zombies, but that they were shutting off the water for two months or more. Everyone made mad rushes to the water section. I’m not sure what happened next, other than I made calls to my family to tell them where I was going to be and that I had everything we needed, to meet me there. The next thing I remember is being in some kind of clearing in the woods (?) I didn’t see any trees around but it felt like it was a clearing. We were all sitting on folding chairs, there were a couple dozen of us, and I was crying. The group leader got up and started telling us what was going on back in the town I live in and that everyone who ever drank any tap water there, bathed in it, or washed clothes in it, was now infected and it was only just a matter of time. She announced that someone else had turned and asked the cub scouts (where this plays in, i have no clue. No one I know ever was a cub scout), to stand and come to the front, then she spoke directly to me and said “I don’t want to upset you more than you already are, but it was one of the scouts in that area). For some reason, in my dream, this upset me terribly and I started bawling. Throughout the course of this dream, I never saw anyone I recognized, with the exception of the group leader who was my English instructor at college. Also throughout this dream, no zombies ever appear. If you knew my weird de-ja-vu thing, you’d understand why this dream being so recurring is a little unsettling. Very rarely do dreams I have not happen. Provided, I know that there isn’t going to be a zombie apocalypse, but it makes me wonder if there w

Let me ask you a question: when was the last time you read a long passage that had no paragraphs? Why no paragraphs? Do you really want this interpreted? I would suggest that you repost this with paragraphs and only the PERTINENT details.

I will say this: zombies as a dream symbol symbolize people who would drain our energy and take from us.

Q&A: Break it down for me? A clean house?

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Question by mrs.v: Break it down for me? A clean house?
I grew up with a maid, and a mom who picked up after me. I just recently got married to a man who knew how to do his own laundry at 9. I need a complete list of what needs to be done, and what to do it with ( I have to go buy cleaning supplies)
We have a master bedroom, tile with an area rug, curtains and mountains of laundry.
A guest room/ play room (I do home daycare) Lots of toys, tile floor area rug mini blinds
Kitchen- tile
Breakfast nook/dining area that also holds our computer and computer desk (antique, wood) with table and chairs
living room tile with area rug couches entertainment center
Bathroom
hallway
carport
laundry room
back patio and back yard

I really have NO clue how this is supposed to work. I can load a dishwasher, and I can fold clothes…. other than that I’m lost.
Hiring a maid is NOT an option. I want to learn to do this myself, and for my husband.
Thanks all! SOOO appreciated!
I’ve tried fly lady. I’m really not into that…. sorry devoted followers! I really just need cleaning each room broken down for me– what to do in the kitchen, what to do it with etcetera. THanks!

“Toy store” dream?

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Question by voidedlives: “Toy store” dream?
What is your interpretation: I’m in a toy store as an adult. For some reason, the store gives the impression of being a cluttered london used book store (ala Harry Potter). I’m looking for some unusual toys I remember from my youth. I’m with someone, but I’m not sure who. I squeeze through a cluttered aisle into a seldom traveled section of the store. I hear revelry coming from a small darkened hallway to the left. It’s all wood, and has a small fountain on the left. There is a small wooden door at the end on the right. In front of the door is a heavyset usher. He opens the door, exposing what appears to be a small private theatre with folding chairs, filled with 30 or so people. They were watching something funny, but it’s over now, and they begin to stand up and file out. Whatever it was, I appear to have missed it.

Q&A: Wedding help! How would we walk down the aisle?

Friday, January 21st, 2011
wooden folding chairs Jo Naylor

issues by Amy : to help the wedding! Since we wanted to go to the altar?
Hello! I have a bit of a problem, I would like help with. Here’s the thing: We are most likely (since its free and we can not afford to find another place), will marry in one of our churches. The fact is Mormon churches arent really set up for weddings, because they tend to marry in the temple. Therefore, we have 2 options:-For those who have never been to a Mormon church, the banks (or what has always called theyre) with 2 short “sections” of the side walls (usually about 4 adults) sets and a large part in middle. Therefore there are 2 courses, but no center aisle. It is a walk in the very front, and there is a short walk from the front wall. Normally looks kinda like this top on the right (but much nicer and ours is a bit bigger I think) http://www.allaboutmormons.com/mormon_images.php?gallery=inside-mormon-chapel If we do that, it was this space that we at the altar? I think we would look good on that front, because there is plenty of room upstairs and a microphone. I do not know how we would be up there. So we were at the reception in the gym (they have all fitness centers, basketball some carpet play some wood) and have tables set up and ready to move from the ceremony in the gym or -. We, the ceremony has in the gym also and have just set up folding chairs so that everyone is outside or hallwaysor where afterwards, while some volunteers (mothers, etc.) and tables. Then they’ll all come back later when they have set up for reception. Maybe a few pictures while the tables are listed dich. Was think we should do? Thank you for the first answer, but I do not think the gym is large enough to be split into two halves. I wanted it to thhis a building, we saw the party to be at my aunts lake house nearby, and I did not want to really really been burned in the middle of her old and ugly haha good idea to use though:) Best answer:

response megans_spirit

Just out of curiosity, your band happen, a complete fitness room with sliding walls and have it cut into two halves? if it .. You can set your party in one half and the other half to the reception. maybe your stack house had a larger multi-purpose room? if not, perhaps you may want the ceremony in the garage, or perhaps in another room in the chapel? that is, if you are a small guest list. if not, you can just choose to walk and run, or you can get out of hand, door thats through the microphone. Whatever you choose, im sure will look great! Congratulations! :)

Closed, it weighs all of 55 lbs (25kg) and compresses to a very slinky 25″ x 22″ x 8″ form (wide enough for one 5-year old — or an adult’s solo butt-cheek), but it expands to nearly 24 feet and can withstand up to 4230 lbs! (The manufacturer calculates the capacity to be adequate for 16 people — which might be tolerable on a subway during rush hour but not for any prolonged casual seating). But why quibble about mere details of whether or not it is 12 or 16 bottoms that can be loaded onto a “bench” that can be transported home in the back of a car. It is the answer to every holiday dilemma of “how will we accommodate all these people.” Further, with its patented accordion design, the FlexibleLove can be snaked and shaped to fit virtually any space.FlexibleLove is the brain child of Chishen Chiu, a Taiwanese designer who first saw honeycombed cardboard being used to create palettes in lieu of wood. Available only in cardboard brown — the love seat is decidedly green as it is made from recycled paper and wood. The paper is currently untreated — so you do have to worry a bit about spills. Available in four different lengths, prices vary USD300 to USD540 retail.!!!!

I need advice! What do you think about my choice of chair rentals?

Friday, January 7th, 2011

Question by Selah: I need advice! What do you think about my choice of chair rentals?
I have an autumn themed wedding. My linens are ivory with a gold organza overlay. my center pieces are floral with some willow branches and other fall foliage incorporated into them in dark urns. The wedding is indoors and will be at night.

For the cost and the look, these are the chairs I chose: http://www.amigopartyrental.com/*widgets/gallery/detail.jspy?G=TG4760&P=TG59257189&F=/chairs.nxg

They are fruitwood folding chairs with a tan pad for $ 3.00 a piece.

Should I have chosen the lighter wood color?:

http://www.amigopartyrental.com/*widgets/gallery/detail.jspy?G=TG4760&P=TG63829781&F=/chairs.nxg

I tend to like dark colors, but my linens are light. Any opinions?

Answer by Meredith H
I can’t really be sure, but I think that probably indoors, at night, you made the right choice by going with the darker chairs.

Fuschia and Orange wedding colors theme, trying to coordinate tables, chairs, decorations?

Friday, December 31st, 2010
Wood Folding Chairs
by joguldi

Question by alwayswondering: Fuschia and Orange wedding colors theme, trying to coordinate tables, chairs, decorations?
I am going to use gerbera daisies in orange and fuschia/pink. For the tables, I’m not sure about how to decorate the scheme. I am thinking white linen with a fuschia satin table runner (maybe a colored satin tablecloth? might be ‘too much’ though), orange satin napkins folded as squares, fuschia sashes on the chairs, which are natural wood color. Centerpieces to be round glass vase with clear gems and the gerberas, with a few votives around it. Is this too much? I’m not sure about the chair sashes..
Unsure on bridesmaid dresses- either fuschia or black. I think black would look a little off but fuschia may be too bright?!
Any alternate ideas?
Thanks!

Answer by Maria
about the dresses fuschia is a great color and i love it with orange. if you go somewhere like davids bridal you can get accessories to the dresses in orange. they have things like ribbons and things like that you can use with the fuschia dress. i think you have a wonderful plan and great ideas and you should stick with it your ideas are great!
