I’m trying to find a way to attach a pen to a few dozen metal folding chairs so that those sitting behind these chairs can use and return the pen when finished.
Requirements:
1) Nothing can be permanently attached to the chair; the device must be able to be removed and re-applied any number of times.
2) The “pen” can be any writing instrument.
3) The device must be available for purchase or made using materials that are available for purchase. This must be proved by providing a web page reference (unless it’s a very common item).
4) The solution must look professional (e.g. “duct tape” can solve almost any problem, but usually doesn’t look very nice.)
5) The total cost per each pen and its associated attachment device must be $ 1 or less.
6) The device must be quiet (e.g. no Velcro).
Magnetic solutions are welcome. I’ve considered attaching magnets to the pens, but that risks violating #4 above – not a very graceful solution.

I’ve seen pens that have a string attached for nurses to wear around their necks, you could loop it around the chairs. I’d try a specialty advertising company. National Pen Co. is one, they may have something.

For our ceremony our venue provides metal folding chairs. I am considering the idea of renting white chairs to make it look better, but before I do I thought I would through it out on here. Is there anyway to dress up the folding chair without using a chair cover? I have searched online and am not coming up with much. I did see a picture where they tied some tulle on the back of a chair, but I don’t know if that would just make the chairs look worse by making it look like we were trying to dress up something that can’t be dressed up.

I need some advice! For my wedding we will be borrowing tables and metal folding chairs. I already have the tables planned out with white tablecloths and a fuschia tulle runner down the center. My problem is the chairs are really ugly and I need a very cheap idea on how to cover those. We are on a really tight budget ($ 3,000 for everything)as we are paying for everything ourselves. I was thinking of buying some tulle for the chairs and ribbon, but I wanted to know if anyone would have any idea what that would cost per chair? My colors are fuschia, yellow and orange. Thanks!

Check for sales on sheets. One sheet set will cover four chairs.
Another thing you can do is just make fabric covers for the chairs that are lining aisle or outside edges. The tops of the interior chairs would just need something for the backs which will save you a ton of fabric. They don’t show up in before ceremony pics and will be covered by your guests’ bodies during.
You could dye or paint canvas or just cotton fabric. Mixing patterns of clearance material will look fine as long as they are in the same colors and will help add to the casual feel.
Watch the paper and check online. Joann’s and Hobby Lobby usually have a 40% coupon every few weeks that you can use on any item in the store, even on sale. This will save you a ton. If you are on their mailing lists they will send you some as well.
I wouldn’t use tulle unless you really need to. The chairs are going to show through it.

A gym may become an auditorium or and auditorium may become a dance floor by rearranging the portable chairs. This allows organizations to make use of rooms that to not have to sit empty for a majority of the week.
Folding chairs may be used for many different reasons. You may just want one or two around the home for additional seating or a thousand for an event where you need plenty of seating. These chairs can easily be transported and take less room for storage.

You can spray them like they are but I would suggest you clear them after so it does not chip or rub off on peoples clothes. You can get “clear” at your local DIY store in the spray paint isle.

go there and see the room with the chairs set up for an actual wedding and see how visible they really are. they will lend a casual air to your event so if you are looking for a formal feel this is not it. because they are smaller than rental chairs. take a tape measure and measure them and then go to a rental place and do the same and see what the difference really is.
i have gone to many things with the white folding rental chairs. they seem fine. again, see what they actually look like when the room is set up, they may disappear and not be an issue.

I’ve seen pistol rounds stopped by some pretty mundane things before. A few years ago, living in the “cheap” section of a town, we found out that an exterior brick wall can stop a .45. But the cops said we were lucky, so It’s not something I’d bet on again.
Depending on the caliber, ammo used, barrel length of the gun fired from, and angle; I can see it working. Sometimes.
