I would make the paper pom poms from Martha Stewarts website. They are just made from tissue paper and ribbon – very inexpensive – all at the dollar store. They are very easy to make as well!!

Sounds awesome! If he’s building something and you have all of that natural beauty all around, if it were me, I’d leave it at that, plus some plants and flowers. You don’t want anything too spectacular distracting from you!
I would also recommend using live flowers … like put lemons or other citrus inside the vases and then matching-color flowers in the vase itself. Those make great decorations for the aiseways as well as the tabletops and centerpieces. I’d also recommend giving the guests bubble bottles, to blow bubbles as you walk back down the aisle — it’s super-cheap to do and it looks fantastic in photos.

Chinese lanters, or those big round paper balls to tie in the tree. Paper flowers, or candles or lanterns to hang.

The following 2 items will give alot of impact for a small amount of money:
Tulle: this is a netlike material sold by the yard. You can also buy spools of it, in different colors at the craft stores. Use it for bows on the back of the chairs, to add color. You can also swag and drape any areas that you can connect it to.
Balloons: these are inexpensive, and can be placed in groups of 3-5 tied together with ribbons. Then place them around wherever you like them.

Honestly if its outdoors, I would keep it simple.
Focus on the decor at the front where your guests will be facing, because obviously that’s what they’ll be looking for the longest time during the ceremony. You could get two really pretty topiaries or other potted plants to place on either side of where you will stand and sort of “frame” you. Just make sure they are substantial enough to be seen from the back rows or else its pointless. Let the surrounding nature speak for itself!
