I bought this chair for a recent trip to the Jersey Shore. It is not your average beach chair. It is wider, and has a higher back than any other chair I have used. I am 6′-4″ and weigh near 300 pounds. This chair was both comfortable and sturdy. The pillow on the backrest actually hits the back of my head, not the back of my neck on most shorter chairs.
The chair has a cutout built into one armrest that seems to be in a strange place when the chair is open on the beach. But fold it up and that cutout is exactly in the correct place to carry the chair. The placement of the cutout was obviously thought oot, because the chair is then balanced and it makes the chair easy to carry.
The wood armrests are polished nicely and wide enough to feel more generous than other lower quality chairs. The cupholder is small, but it was the perfect size to stick my iPod Video so it wasn’t sitting in the sand.

The chair is great. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because of a small little flaw. The cup holder is to small. A can fits perfect, but if you want to use a coozie, for get it. Otherwise, it is very attractive and a very well built chair.

I bought this chair for my husband. It lasted less than one season! The chair did not lock into position and my husband went crashing backward into the sand. At that point the whole arm piece fell off! What’s the point of making a Big Kahuna Chair that is so shoddily constructed?!

The arm of the chair broke off the first trip to the beach. {A knot in the wood inside the arm caused it} I called the manufacturer, RIO, and they were more than accomadating and shipped out a new chair immediately!!! Still rate as a great chair!

Well designed and sturdy. Handy cup holder and zippered side pocket for cell phone etc. Reclines to prone position. Comfortable. Has handle for carrying. Not light. One per arm only.

we’re not so young anymore, so we tend to seek the shade. Big bulky umbrella sets are not so easy to find, rent or set up. This liitle chair does it all. It is easy to carry; setup is a breeze; and the umbrella does its job even under breezy conditions. my only concern is that the umbrella “whip-like’ ARMITURE tends to rust pretty quickly. My plan is to steel wool it and put a little lubricant on it before our next trip. I definitely recommend this chair. Oh, lets not forget the attachments. The litte cooler is just the thing for our “SUMMER DRINKS” on the beach.
